Shelter applications
The versatile product line of EADS portable shelters is adaptable to nearly all applications for mobile medical care, humanitarian missions, logistics support and protection.
EADS' TransHospital® system is operationally proven with NATO forces and allied countries, with deployments ranging from small rescue stations to large mobile field hospitals with full medical care facilities and hundreds of beds.
The TransHospital rescue station configuration brings emergency treatment to the scene, and can be set up in 30-90 minutes. It typically consists of two hardwall ISO shelters and inflatable softwall unit.

TransHospital's hardwall shelters are highly mobile and provide the sterile environment for full medical care.

More extensive treatment is provided with TransHospital’s rescue center, which is created using 6-15 hardwall shelters and 10-15 softwall units. The treatment of patients can begin about 2.5 hours into the setup process, with the rescue center’s full assembly taking approximately 6 hours.
In its operation as a large-scale mobile field hospital, TransHospital brings major medical capabilities close to the front lines, with treatment ranging from basic and major surgical operations to shock treatment, neurosurgery, burn treatments and skin grafts. The mobile field hospital includes laboratories, along with facilities for specialties such as dentistry, urology, gynecology and ear, nose and throat. It is assembled with 20-80 ISO shelters and 20-100 softwall units, and accommodates from 100 to 300 patients. As with the other TransHospital systems, initial patient treatment can begin within 2.5 hours of setup, while the entire field hospital is built in 36-72 hours.
Another TransHospital application is the naval rescue center, which places shelters on a ship’s upper deck for a floating medical care facility. Capable of performing emergency operations and extended treatment, the naval rescue center provides autonomous medical support during extended onboard tours of duty. As with land-based TransHospital installations, the naval center offers a full range of medical service, including primary surgical care, general medical and dental care, laboratory and X-ray diagnostics and post-operative treatment.
Armored shelter versions, called TransProtec, are used to protect troops in fixed locations as well as truck-mounted transportation systems. The TransProtec shelter seats up to 18-20 soldiers complete with their equipment and weapons. With self-sufficient operations of up to 10 hours, TransProtec shields personnel against such threats as IEDs (improvised explosive devices), ballistic fire, anti-tank mines and shrapnel.
A total of more than 500 shelter units have been delivered by EADS, and are field proven in the full range of climatic conditions – from extreme cold to the high-temperature desert environment.
